Ordination Pathways
Being ordained in the Alliance of Reformed Churches is different.
Getting Started
We're excited you're considering ordination - or doing your five-year renewal! Ordination is a declaration of trust, and Pathways is a way of making sure that you are trusted by congregation, network, and the global Alliance. Whether you are starting ordination in the Alliance or renewing your ordination, please have these things in place:
STEP ONE:
Be familiar with the basics of the Alliance of Reformed Churches, including its core values and beliefs
STEP TWO:
Be familiar with the basics of Pathways, the Alliance's competency-based framework for ordination.
STEP THREE:
Have your resume ready.
STEP FOUR:
Notify your consistory that you are applying to Pathways and wish to become (or are actively discerning whether to become, or are renewing your status as) an ordained pastor. Have them fill out the Congregational Affirmation form at their earliest convenience.
Pathways Values
-

High Accessibility
The Alliance understands pastors come from many backgrounds, and wants to meet them where they are. Pathways will help you get ordained efficiently, whether you're an emerging leader, a second career pastor, or coming from another denomination.
-

High Accountability
The Alliance supports pastors with robust accountability measures. Pathways will help you find your pathway for ongoing growth. It will also facilitate your renewal of ordination every five years.
-

High Relationality
The Alliance sees ordination as a matter of trust. Pathways will help you establish trust with your congregation, your network, and the whole Alliance, connecting you to fellow Christians all along the way.
